About Us
Visions Autism Center was founded by Meshea and David James in 2007. The James' have a son Trey, who is now thirteen years old. Trey was diagnosed at the age of three with PDD-NOS. Trey also suffered neurologic injuries at birth exacerbating his developmental struggles. VAC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The "Vision" was to establish an organization in our community dedicated to serving families with autism and other differences was born long before the organization was founded. Struggling to find professionals who were experienced and well educated on best practices in educating a child with different needs, David and Meshea traveled to other states to check out the possibilities. They found that other area's had centers and organizations that did indeed specialize in these proven effected methods of educating children with different needs. This was very exciting and depressing. "It was so exciting because I knew what I was looking at what we had been searching for all along. Depressing because I knew I had to uproot my family once again in search for what I knew my child needed". As fate would have it, Kelley Drennan, who was a program director at one of the autism schools they visited, was just about to move to Nashville. From that day on, the Vision began. With the help of Kelley and many others, Visions was formed in hopes of preventing other families from the struggles the James' endured.
